INITIATIVE (BABSEA CLE)
Position
Overview:
Bridges Across Borders Southeast Asia Community Legal Education Initiative (BABSEA CLE) is an international access to justice/legal education not-for-profit organization working to strengthen and support university and community-based Clinical Legal Education (CLE) programs. The Legal Fellow will be an integral part of BABSEA CLE’s efforts to support the CLE Program at the Faculty of Law and Political Science (FLP), National University of Laos. Individuals who have graduated from both the FLP and the FLP CLE program will be considered for the Legal Fellow position. This position will be for a two year term. The Legal Fellow will assist with the strengthening of the FLP CLE program and the growth of CLE programs across Laos. Over the two year term, the Legal Fellow will acquire skills that are valuable and applicable to future employment opportunities and the advancement of social justice principles and initiatives.
Job Functions:
• Office
organization;
• Working in conjunction with the FLP CLE Clinic Director and Committee to ensure workshops and trainings are productive and successful;
• Funding management, budgeting and reporting;
• Monitoring and Evaluation of CLE projects;
• Working in conjunction with the FLP CLE Clinic Director and Committee to ensure workshops and trainings are productive and successful;

Requirements:
• A graduate of the
FLP CLE program (strongly preferred), or someone very familiar with the FLP and
BABSEA CLE activities;
• Works well with others (such as staff, volunteers, and the public);
• Open minded and eager to learn new skills and concepts;
• Proficient in Word, Excel, Adobe, email, and internet research;
• Able to make decisions, set goals, and meet deadlines;
• Strong writing and speaking skills;
• Ability to speak and write in English, at least at an intermediate level (BABSEA CLE is willing to provide legal and office English lessons)
• Willing and able to keep a flexible schedule and work occasional nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary;
• Willingness to help coworkers and volunteers with various tasks.

Time Commitment:
• At least 40 hours
each week, with the ability to work on weekends and holidays when necessary
Travel:
• Frequent travel throughout Laos as well as occasional regional
and international travel
